About Course

Compliance & Regulations is a critical subject in the Higher Diploma in Banking and Finance (HDBF) program, designed to equip students with in-depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory landscape governing the financial services industry. As financial institutions operate in an increasingly regulated environment, understanding compliance is essential for ensuring transparency, ethical conduct, and institutional stability.

This course provides a structured approach to exploring key regulatory frameworks in Sri Lanka, including the role of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and global regulatory bodies. Students will gain a solid foundation in laws related to anti-money laundering (AML), combating the financing of terrorism (CFT), Know Your Customer (KYC), and data protection. In addition, the course emphasizes the importance of ethical practices, internal controls, and the strategic role of compliance in risk management.

Through real-life case studies and regulatory analysis, students will develop the practical skills needed to navigate compliance challenges in modern banking, making them valuable assets to any financial institution.
